New Computer Virus - Very Important

   Hello students,

I hope you are working hard to revise.  Please be aware of and research the new computer virus which has been in the news this week.  Although this is not directly linked to news or music topics, I do feel that you should briefly allude to  it as it is extremely important.  You could use views from Morozov to discuss the global threat to users.  It is also useful to mention this threat when discussing the future of we-media.  The fact that more and more information is stored on line, and this new type cyber threat is emerging, raises some serious questions as to the safety of citizens.

Check out the story on BBC News or Sky News websites.

Good luck!

Ched Evans rape case: nine fined over naming of footballer's victim on social networking sites

This example shows how Twitter can be used by citizens to publish information which journalists would not be restricted to publish following legal reasons.

In this case, the people who named the rape victim on line have been prosecuted.  Although, in cases where tweets have been retweeted it may be almost impossible to prosecute social network uses.  Consider the implications of this in relation to our topic.
